EDMONTON (CP) - It'll be Kathleen Edwards's coaching skills versus Nickelback's when the puck drops on centre ice at a Juno celebrity hockey game next month.

But the real stars of the show will likely be the NHL alumni team made up of Lanny McDonald, who will act as team captain, Brian Benning, Rob Brown, Russ Courtnall, Brad Dalgarno, Patrick Flatley, Doug Hicks, Mormand Lacombe and Jamie Macoun. Coached by Chad Kroeger and bandmates, the hockey greats will face off against rockers Sam Roberts, Aaron Lines, Jeremy Taggart of Our Lady Peace and Tyler Stewart of the Barenaked Ladies, amongst others. The performers will be coached by Edwards, who had a hit with her song Hockey Skates. Blue Rodeo frontman Jim Cuddy will act as captain.

"We're all tuned to mix it up in the corners with some of the best from the NHL," Cuddy said in a statement.

The rock stars, many of whom will perform a few days after the game at the Juno Awards, needn't worry about protecting their performance faces, as game rules stipulate a non-contact match.

Tickets for the April 2 event at the AgriCom Arena go on sale Wednesday. Organized by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the $15 ticket will go towards a music education program.

The game will kick off Juno weekend in Edmonton.

A closer look at the team rosters for the Juno Cup hockey game on April 1 at Edmonton's Northland's AgriCom Arena.
