Review by Christina

December 4, 2002

I arrived at the Glasshouse pretty close to show time and was surprised to

see how short the line was to get in. Two kids behind me were getting all

excited about moshing at the show, and that irritated me because I hate

moshing and I've noticed that since Gravity came out there has been a great

increase in it at shows.

I was also surprised at the size of the venue. The last time that I saw them

was in Clifton Park, NY over the summer and that place was packed with

people and I thought it was tiny at the time. This place seemed even smaller

from the outside, but when we were inside it seemed like it would be a good

show because of the intimacy of it.

During Fingertight's terrible performance, I stood at the front of the crowd

(maybe a few rows back). I would never recommend seeing this band. The

singer was full of himself and the lyrics to most of the songs (except the

obvious single) were terrible. I remember one song where the singer kept

singing the line "and you, and you, and you" and pointing to a different

girl every time, then he got to me and sang "and definitely you!" and

pointed at me. It was stupid, because he just assumed that girls are going

to fall at his feet because he is the singer of the band and he obviously

isn't in the business to be artistic. And the "dancing" that he was doing

on stage...which was laughable in the sense that it was so sad it wasn't

funny, was pathetic. I guess it really was only the singer that I had a

problem with, becuase the rest of the band seemed pretty cool and were

atleast decent at their instruments.

By the time Our Lady Peace came on, there were a lot more people coming and

I wasn't feeling well, so I moved to a balcony in the back so that I could

get a better view and still enjoy the show. This is the first time in any of

my OLP show history that I have ever been more than 8 rows away by my own

free will. I think Fingertight took away the mood for the show completely.

The show was good, but definitely not the best that I have seen them. It

seemed to lack the energy and power of previous OLP shows. Steve did a

really amazing guitar solo during one of the songs that really made me

finally accept him as a member of the band, so that was cool. The only major

dissapoinment of the show was that they did not close with 4am. They played

right through the set and didn't do an encore, and I was convinced that they

were going to come back out and play 4am, but the crowd already had started

to move out, so maybe they were going to play it and just gave up when they

saw everyone leaving. I milled around for a while, and then decided to go

wait outside by the tour bus to see if I could meet them.

After an hour or so, Duncan and Steve came out and I got to get a picture

with both of them, although I didn't really get to talk to them very much.

They both seemed really cool and into meeting their fans, and I think that

meeting them in person gave me a new perspective as to who are the cool

members in the band. Steve asked my name and was about to talk to me, but

some of his friends drove by so he had to go.

Raine came out shortly thereafter, and looked exhausted, as he should after

playing a show like that. He seemed really dissattatched from reality and

not wanting to talk to anyone. He got pictures with a few people and then I

was next in line and he went to leave, so this really cool girl (I forget

her name) yelled after him and made him come back. I mumbled the standard

nervous fan deal, and got a picture and then he went back to the tour bus. I

kind of wish that I had a chance to talk to him more.

Then I waited about anohter hour and Jeremy finally showed his face, only to

say "it's fucking cold" and leap onto the bus. He was funny.

And that was my show. It was good times.
