I got to check out another OLP show in
Louisville Ky on 11/25/02. I was in Columbus Oh visiting my bro Phil and his
fiance Mandy and they said they wanted to go, we rented a car and made the 3.5
hr trip. Of course my bro is never in a rush so we got to Jillians at about
7:35, parked and noticed the long ass line to get in, we all had to pee so bad
so we ran inside. After we got out of the restroom they were letting people in
so we just went along with the crowd, by the time we got in there were tons of
people already by the stage. I couldn't get either of them to go up front right
then, so we waited, BIG MISTAKE on my part...Greenwheel came on and they played
a good set, I have no clue who they are or any of there songs but thought they
were pretty good. I managed to get Phil to move up closer with me, we got to a
point where we couldn't move anymore so we were kinda stuck! I am only 5 ft 4 so
I could barely see a thing.People were getting fidgety and I was afraid of
getting smushed or my head was going to be used as an ashtray.(I hate cigarette
smoke!) The lights dimmed and OLP came on a few minutes later. I was so friggin
stoked to see them again, only I couldn 't see a damn thing! ARGH...I was
jumping up and down and standing on my tippy toes.Phil let me get on his
shoulders for a bit, which was so awesome. Perfect view:-) The crowd was quite
into the show, there seemed to be a few people who had no clue what any of the
songs were except "SOT" and "Innocent". I was in my own little world, singing
and dancing in my little area. People started to push and get pissed off and
stuff, it was kind of annoying but I tried to just ignore it. I don't remember
the setlist but they did play quite a few songs off of Gravity, including SOT,
Innocent, Bring Back the Sun, Story about a Girl, All for You and one or two
others..When "Whatever" blared over the sound system Phil was like hey this is
Chris Benoits song! I thought that was cool for him since he didn't know any of
the songs .I was too stoked when they played "Stealing Babies" though, I thought
I was gonna pass out! Amazing...I had a great time despite that I didn't see
much.
After the show I went out to the tour bus to see if I could give Jeremy something. I had no coat on (left it in the car) so I was freezing my ass off. After 30 minutes I ran to get my bro and tell him to get the car. I got my toasty coat and silly hat and was good to go. I met some cool fans and 2 cute dogs(Mai's) and got to chat a bit. Jeremy came out and started to sign autographs and take pics with people, he seemed really tired, not extremely outgoing, very laid back but of course so sweet. I got to say hi and give him some stuff. I forgot to bring something for him to sign, all I had was a pic of my dog Sadie so he signed the back of it. Steve then came out of the bus. He also signed my pic and thought that everyone should bring their dogs! What a nice guy. I got to ask him a few questions which was cool.I waited to see if Raine and Duncan were coming out. Jeremy said they weren't but he would try to get Raine to come out to see the 2 dogs. Unfortunately they didn't so it was about 1am and we had a long drive ahead of us I left. I think Mike E. came out after I left, too. We got home at 4:30 am and I was so sleepy. It was a great show and nite. Phil really liked OLP which was great for me, we rarely like the same stuff. I hope I get to see some more shows before they end this tour, who knows maybe they will come to Memphis?
