The concerts get better every year in my
opinion. We left the small town
outside Pittsburgh around 1 and headed for the Ampitheater at Station
Square. When we got there my friend Jayne and I were so excited and we
started searching for members of OLP. And boy did we get lucky. We ran into
Steve and he was the nicest person I've met. He was very welcoming and my
dad took some pictures with us altogether in a couple of pictures. Steve
didn't even hesitate. He even signed our tickets.
We knew we were off to a good start. We headed down to the Hard Rock Cafe
for lunch, and Pittsburgh's 105.9 the X had a contest going on down there.
It had to do with 3DD through.
Around 6p.m. we headed across the parking lot towards the tour buses again.
Only to find the rest of OLP hanging out in the bus. They never did come
out. :( We went in to the Ampitheather, and I bought 80 dollars worth of
OLP merch. and I was flat out broke. Lucky my dad still had money.
Shinedown came on around 7 and over all I didn't think they where that
bad. As Seether came on Jayne and I squeezed up to the left side of the
stage sort of in front of the amps, just where we were last year. Seether,
over all, wasn't bad, and I did like the Nirvana cover. But they seemed out
of place there, like they should have been touring with Linkin Park or some
group that is more metal-ish.
Next, Our Lady Peace, and it seemed as if everyone was their solely just
to see them. Everyone knew the lyrics and everyone cheered. It was the best
experience ever. First, they play All for you, followed by Whatever, and
Raine had climbed on one of his amps and sang, they didn't give him a rope
ladder this year... lol. They played the usual Superman's Dead, then
Innocent followed by the 2 new songs which were absolutely amazing, Wipe
that smile off your face, and Walking in circles. Then came the Birdman
which Steve played an awesome solo and then finished the last minute of it.
They added SOT, and finished with Starseed with the U2 MLK intro, and
Steve's wicked solo. We decided to go outside and catch the rest of the
band. When we found them they were busy, and we just got a simple hello.
Over all OLP stole the show. Steve gave me some motivation about my guitar
playing, and we had a great time.
