We apologize
for the lateness of the news. We were unable
to update our website as our server was down.
Unfortunately
it is bad news, taken from
corelcentre.com,
MILLENNIUM
HOUSE PARTY CANCELLED
KANATA (Ontario)
- Pop 2000 Inc. has informed the Corel Centre that The Millennium House
Party has been cancelled. The Corel Centre regrets any inconvenience that
this decision may have caused.
“Unfortunately,
across the world, the popularity of spending New Year’s Eve at a major
event has been overestimated. This trend has effected the Millennium House
Party,” said Pop 2000 Inc.
Tickets purchased
at Ticketmaster outlets or the Corel Centre box office are refundable at
the point of purchase. Phone and internet sales will be refunded automatically.
Suite and Club Seat holder purchases will also be refunded automatically.
Keep your eyes
on the official page for official news! We feel really
bad for all the people who had tickets. Maybe you can enjoy Ottawa
anyway. It is one of our favourite cities.

Just got back
from the CC ChristmasParty (it is now 2:00am), and it was a great success!
We will try to spell out the night for the people that couldn't go:
It was a small,
cozy, classically decorated room, with Christmas lights all over the ceiling,
couches and chairs all over to help us all be very comfortable. A full
bar for all your thirsty desires. Tons of goodies including Stacy's
yummy homemade cookies. And of course
a room full of CC'ers!
OLP Tribute
band, Clumzy played two sets which included the following songs:
Set 1
Big Dumb Rocket
Supersatellite
Shaking
Automatic Flowers
The Birdman
Hope
Car Crash
Set 2
Superman's
Dead
One Man Army
Happiness...
Julia
Let You Down
Neon Crossing
Dirty Walls
4am
Naveed
Starseed
Clumsy
They were excellent!
CC'ers seemed to be in awe, and cheered them on loudly! Anyone who was
there, leave your reviews on the CC!
And the prizes
included cool rare posters, signed posters, surprise OMA patches hidden
under the chairs, and of course the grand prize of guestlist entries to
the ACC Show. Congrats to Katie (OLPSunflower) for the big prize.
Special thanks
to the band for some great entertainment, for the CC'ers we finally got
to meet and talk to, and of course Stacy for putting it all together!

Just in from
Columbia's Daily Dish! It is official! OLP will be performing "Scaled"
shows in the US!
Here is all
the information:
OUR LADY
PEACE - SCALED
Our Lady Peace
have finished their December 1999 UK arena tour with the Stereophonics
and will embark on an arena tour of Canada in February 2000. With
no time to mount a major U.S. tour until March, the group has decided to
fill the gap between their two big tours with “Scaled,” a series of intimate
small venue gigs beginning January 9 in West Palm, Florida
(see itinerary
attached). For the group’s January “Scaled” gigs, OLP has planned
an innovative small scale show incorporating acoustic arrangements of the
band’s repertoire with set-lists selected by fans via the group’s online
website. Each of the four members of OLP—Raine Maida (vocals), Mike Turner
(guitar), Jeremy Taggart (drums), Duncan Coutts (bass) ? is creating a
short film that will run during the band’s performances. During the
“Scaled” shows, OLP will take questions from the audience.
“We wanted to
interact with our real fans and allow them to see us in a new light,” said
Raine Maida. “At the same time, these shows will give us the opportunity
to be more up-close, intimate, and personal.” Songs from the recently-released
Happiness... Is Not A Fish That You Can Catch (which debuted at #1 on the
group’s native Canadian sales c harts, ahead of Nine Inch Nails, Chris
Cornell, Tori Amos and other first week debuts), as well as the band’s
biggest hits and some surprising cover songs, will be featured on the OLP
small club tour. Happiness... is the second Our Lady Peace album
to debut at the top of the Canadian sales charts; the band’s second album,
Clumsy, which contained the U.S. Top 5 Modern Rock tracks “Superman’s Dead”
and “Clumsy,” is rapidly approaching the RIAA platinum mark in the U.S.
“One Man Army,” the first single from Happiness... Is Not A Fish That You
Can Catch, has continued OLP’s success on alternative radio and went Top
10 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks. “Is Anybody Home”,” the new
single from Happiness..., will be released to radio in early January.
Our Lady Peace
has won critical acclaim for both the group’s recordings and their dynamic
live performances. Patrick Foster, writing in the Washington Post
(September 30, 1999), found that “OLP’s eclecticism made its set superior.
And on the crowded floor of the general admission event, (the) audience
howled its approval.” Ann Powers, in a three-star lead review in
Rolling Stone (October 28, 1999), wrote: “Happiness... turns earnest questions
into diverting mind-games. Raine Maida’s lyrics can be virtuously
doomy...but he swirls them around on his tongue and spits them out like
tasty venom, while his band careens about like it’s been dipping into that
old sacramental wine. Producer Arnold Lanni makes Our Lady Peace’s
bright sound even more acidic with the help of a few well-deployed synthesizers...
it’s nice to hear a band that’s willing to flirt a little with the big
questions before settling down.”

Down*
Our Lady Peace
will be taking some time between their current European tour & an arena
tour of their native Canada to play a series of intimate shows in the States
in January. The mini-tour, which the band has dubbed "Scaled", will be unplugged,
w/set lists selected by fans via OLP's web site. "We wanted
to interact w/our real fans & allow them to see us in a new light," said
OLP frontman Raine Maida of the tour. "At the same time, these shows will
give us the opportunity to be more up-close, intimate, & personal." In addition
to acoustic interpretations of their hit songs from the band's recent relese,
"Happiness...is not a fish that you can catch", the band will
also be playing
some covers. Also, each band member- Maida, Guitarist Mike Turner, drummer
Jeremy Taggart, & bassist Duncan Coutts- will create a short film that will
run while the band is performing.
