This is a sad day. Fabio has decided to take olponline down. We have decided
to dedicate today's news to him with the following message,
You've been a good friend and fellow webmaster. Your site will surely be
missed. It was obvious your heart was 100% into it and your original designs and
content were evident throughout your site. It seems easier for some these days
to carbon copy content, and mask it with another design, and call it their own.
Or forget the whole intent is to spread the Peace, not compete with other
fansites. This is just poor etiquette, and justifies little praise. But not
Fabio, your ideas were yours, and your intent was to promote OLP to the world.
All this from someone with little contact from OLP in Brazil, makes it that much
more amazing. Long live the memory of olponline!
September 28, 2001
Head
over to Edge 102 and vote for OLP to win
Casby awards in the following categories:

Cool" section is currently featuring live tracks from OLP's recent American
Tour! So don't waste another second, head over and listen. Thanks to Rick and
PouringRaine for the news.
September 26, 2001
Even
though the Street Team no longer exists, this doesn't mean that we should stop
promoting and spreading the word of OLP. Their latest single "Right Behind You"
was released to radio stations since the beginning of August and the song still
hasn't made it on
Edge 102's New Rock 30 Countdown. This means, OLP need your support. We
don't only want to get the song on the countdown, we want it to be #1. This
isn't going to happen if it isn't on the charts, so we all need to head over to
The Edge and
vote NOW!!! Thanks to Nadia for bringing this to our attention.
September 24, 2001
Some of you may remember back in 1995 when OLP took home 3
CASBY (Canadian Artists Selected By You) Awards (Staged by CFNY 102.1 in
Toronto) for Favourite new artist, new release and new song, both the latter
being for "Naveed" Well the CASBY awards are back and OLP might have a chance
to win some more. Starting
this Thursday (Sept 27), you can get your ballot in
NOW Magazine and online at
The Edge. Be sure to pick your faves and
send them in. Then join The Edge for the big party, on Saturday December 8th at
The Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. All the tickets are free - and available
exclusively to Edge listeners. To hear more about the 2001 CASBY Awards, listen
for the full scoop tonight on Live on The Edge. Thanks
to Rob for the info.
September 23, 2001 (Evening)
The
5hr "Much's

Raine and Chantal are on first, and take place sometime after a discussion and
performance by the Tea Party.

September 21, 2001
Thanks to Rob for
sending us this post from Jeremy Taggart (SE7enUp) that was made on the
Clumsy Congress in the
Anything OLP
Topic:
Hello everyone. It's Jeremy
We are in some pretty wacky times here. Times
that are new to everyone on the planet. This could possibly get very scary. So
all I am asking of all of you folks to do is, hang on. As crazy as this war
could get, it's easier to let go, and give up, forget that it's happening, or
worse yet, try and forget what happened.
Try and figure out every little detail about
this. How it could have happened. Why terrorists are trying to unravel western
civilization. What will it take to solve this terrible conflict in the most
humane way. Or, the most destructive way.
It's war again, just like those terrible
stories we heard growing up. A long hard war. But now, there will be biological
weapons, fancy macho missiles, A video game that we can't even imagine. But all
too real.
We even had a big Hollywood movie of it, and
the world still forgot about Pearl Harbor. I know, I didn't see it either.
The other thing about this is we can't forget
to laugh. There's a reason that The Three Stooges were huge during the second
world war. Also don't forget about Bob Hope, flying in and out of war torn
countries, just to bring a smile to both the soldiers, and the people at homes
faces.
We have too live life as usual, but we must
keep our eyes and ears peeled, because this is going to make us grow up real
quick folks.
Your pal,
Jeremy Taggart
Oh yeah, The show Glogson is talking about that
Me, and Alex are working on is true. He'll keep you all posted on it.
Here is a
review of
Century Hotel (starring Raine of OLP) from the Toronto Film Festival.
Thanks to Rob for the link.
September 20, 2001
Looks like the new
TV station,
Edge TV
is going to be a good one! According to Emily, Requestfest showed a live
version of Superman's Dead. She thinks it was from their January 1998, Maple
Leaf Gardens show. Stay tuned to the new channel for hopefully a lot more OLP!
September 18, 2001
The following is an
important message about the OLP fan club that was posted on the Clumsy Congress
board:
Dear Pied Pipers
Union members,
Jeremy, Mike, Raine and I have good news and
bad news. The bad news is that we are shutting down the P.P.U. The good news,
however, is that we are working on a new way to continue our relationship in a
manner that will not cost you a yearly fee.
We have been exploring different ways of
communication through the internet that would still include mailings, but it is
too premature to make any concrete promises.
This is an exciting time for us. We have
been writing songs together and are looking forward to entering the studio in
the near future.
We have completely appreciated your support
over the years and look forward to continuing our relationship in the future.
Sincerely,
Duncan
Please note that current members will receive
the following to fulfill their memberships:
If your membership expires between September
2001 and December 2001 - you will receive one more mailing.
If your membership expires between January 2002
and February 2002 - you will receive one mailing with two Fan club gifts (the
equivalent to two more packages.)
If your membership expires between March 2002
and June 2002 - you will receive one mailing with three Fan club gifts (the
equivalent to three more packages.)
If your membership expires July 2002 or after
you will receive a refund of your membership fee. Refunds will be sent
automatically.
If you have any comments or questions
(including address change or lost packages) send them to olp@netcom.ca. Please
be patient as the fan club staff is understandably busy sorting out mailings and
memberships at this time.
Much News showed a segment from Winnipeg's
September 8th, War Child concert. It included clips of OLP and Chantal's
performances as well as an interview with Raine and Chantal. Watch for a
possible repeat of this segment on the weekend editon of Much News (Saturday at
8 pm EST and Sunday at 4 pm EST). Thanks goes to Allison, Nikki and Rob for the
info.
September 17, 2001
Here is the band's
statement about the US Disaster that was posted on the
Clumsy Congress in the
Thoughts and Prayers
section by Mike (Emtee),
I'm sorry not to
have responded to this tragedy sooner, but I feel at a loss for words. If I had
the words to say that would offer the comfort needed now, I would say them. I
feel anything I can say is small comfort and if there is any chance we can make
sense of this, I hope it becomes clear soon.
The events of the 11th will never make sense, I only hope that our respose to
them does. There is never a right time for revenge, only responsibility. The
people who committed this act must be held accountable, not the religion they
believe in or the race to whom they belong. We are all of one people, and I
think that the best has been brought out in many so let us dwell on that fact
rather than stare into the abyss.
Our hopes are with all of those suffering through this tragedy, the hope that
they will get through whatever this has brought them. Our sympathies are with
those that have sufferred loss and we share the joy and relief of those that
escaped loss. All of mankind has been diminished by this act.
During our career we have been lucky enough to get to know New York very well.
The city, and indeed the world, will never be the same and for this loss we
mourn, but if there is one place on earth that can survive this, it is New York.
Please try to keep a sense of balance during this time of trial, the balance
between anger and reason. The anger is real and justified but keeping a sense of
reason will be the testament to our generation. We must hold on to a belief that
good will still prevail. Not a good based on politics or religion, but the good
of all humanity. Let those you love know you love them and above all, keep
caring about one another.
Mike, Raine, Duncan, Jeremy, and Jamie
September 16, 2001
We caught Jeremy
Taggart's drum clinic yesterday at Soul Drums in Toronto. He started off by
capturing the audience with an improvisational masterpiece that showcased his
vast influences and technical knowledge. He then answered questions from the
audience on everything from drums to the band's history. Some important tidbits
that may interest fans regarding the new CD were,
- they hope to release the live cd at the same
time as the major release (possibly a double CD?)
- they appreciate all that Arnold Lanni has
done, but want to try other producers. Jeremy mentioned that 3 different
producers may be used, we believe he mentioned the producers from The Flaming
Lips, Aerosmith and Vancouver's own Bob Rock, who has produced such acts as
Metallica.
- they are considering new sounds such as
strings.
September 15, 2001
Stay tuned to
Muchmusic for a possible repeat of Duncan
and Raine's remarks about the U.S. tragedy on the weekend edition of Much News
(half hour). It will be aired Saturday at 8:00PM EST and Sunday at 4:00PM EST.
Thanks to Rob for the update.

This was passed on

of unity for our great nation, it is being asked that we light a candle or a
light outside of our homes on Thursday, September 13 at 10:30pm EST. At this
time, we should all come out and show our determination and unity through this
painful time. Please pass this message along to as many people as possible.
Another global
candlelight vigil is being organized for Friday September 14, 2001. According
to George on Much News and the Moby site, this
Friday at 7pm EST there will be a candlelight vigil as an expression of
compassion and solidarity for the victims of this tragedy. Please just light a
candle and step outside for a few minutes at 7pm EST this Friday. Please pass this message on to as many
people as you can

may happen just not right now.
OLP will be
featuring the Benoit theme song "Whatever" at the MMVAs. Read this

If
you have access to The Movie Network (TMN), tune into "At the movies," which is
an insiders look at what's hot at the box office and what's coming soon.
There's one show a week airing every Saturday that repeats through the week and
this week's show carries a segment that goes on the set of "Century Hotel."
Both Raine and Chantal are interviewed and the host, Teri Hart, said that after
the Toronto Film Festival, "it should hit theatres sometime within the next
year". "At the Movies" repeats today (Tuesday) at 9:35PM (TMN2), Wednesday at
4:00AM (TMN1), 5:40AM (TMN4), and 2:20PM (TMN2), Thursday at 12:05 PM (TMN5) and
11:40PM (TMN5), and Friday at 12:00PM (TMN3). Thanks to Rob for all his hard
work researching these show airing times.

Thanks to Rob for forwarding us the following details about what was said during
today's interview with Raine and Jeremy on 103.3
The Edge. When asked what they did during their last 6 weeks off, Raine
said, "we've been writing" and "we're gonna head out to L.A. in like 3 weeks and
record some stuff." Regarding the next album, Raine said "If you're creative..
we just want to put out stuff as quickly as possible so we'll probably record up
to Christmas and hopefully have something out maybe in February." Then he was
asked if they ever write something new, do it once and then forget and Raine
said, "we used to do that and now we tape everything, every soundcheck is taped
and that's what we're doing right now, just going through our soundcheck
tapes." From the sounds of it, we can expect a new CD from OLP as early as next
year!!!

of Live in Toronto). The show will feature the Brother interviewing various
musicians (we hope OLP is one of them). In order to kick off this new show which
officially airs on Sept 7, "EdgeTV" will be showing a countdown of top videos

August 15, 2001
Hope this will eliminate any confusion! The WWF
Tough Enough Soundtrack, mentioned in our news yesterday for release on Oct 2,
is not the one that OLP will be featured on. If you visit the
MTV website, you will see that the tracklisting doesn't include OLP. The
Tough Enough soundtrack is just a companion CD to the TV show about amateur
wrestlers trying to get a WWF contract. The WWF album that OLP will be featured
on is the Wrestler's theme CD. This CD is released every year or so and is
normally called "WWF The Music Volume __". Since Volume 5 was just released in
Feb 2001, it is likely that the next one featuring "Whatever" will not be out
until Spring 2002. In addition, this one might not continue with the tradition
of past WWF releases and may not be called "WWF The Music Volume 6." Thanks to
Chris, Jonathan, Tyler and Mike for the heads up.
August 14, 2001
The WWF
Tough Enough Soundtrack featuring OLP's "Whatever" will be available in

This morning, Humble and Fred (now on Mojo
640) were talking about how both of them were bitten by Jeremy's dog on
separate occasions. Humble recalled that he felt very uncomfortable as he
likes dogs, but didn't know how to react when Jeremy responded with, "He
just does that when he is excited". Humble mentioned he shouldn't be
talking about Jeremy in case he heard the show, but then realized Jeremy sleeps
until the afternoon most days. Guess Humble forgot about all us
fans!! :-)
Some music related information mentioned on the same show was that the
upcoming WWF CD that will include the new song Whatever was created because the
usual music created for all the wrestlers was created by one person. The
WWF felt they needed to update their music and sound more modern. They
therefore gathered some great new artists to re-work existing theme songs of the
wrestlers. This is how Whatever was born. Can't wait for the CD!

Despite
rumours that OLP might be working on a black and white video that includes
scenes from Raine's trip to the war zone, other sources have credited this as
false. After playing the newest single, Edge
102's DJ, The Brother, reported "I don't think there's plans for a
video for "Right Behind You," just to let you know." Please
note, there has been no official word from Sony about this so this info may not
be accurate. Thanks
to Jeff and Rob for the news update.
