in Vancouver, BC that the new OLP single off of "Gravity" is" Made of Steel."
Thanks to Jason for the news.
OLP was on 89X this morning. Here is a
summary of what happened on the show courtesy of NaTe: "They talked about
"Gravity," and the 89X birthday show that they just performed here not to long
ago. They also sang "SOT," and it sounded really good. What I found most
interesting about the interview was when Raine talked about how Gravity just
kinda... happened. Their intentions were to go to Hawaii and record 2 new songs
that were going to be put on a live album, but when they met up with Bob Rock
things changed. Bob was supposed to work with Metallica, but because James
Hetfield was in rehab Bob told OLP that it was time to "grow some balls." Bob
had the guys make an album that was harder and more live sounding than ever
before, and from what I've heard it is a lot different than any previous album.
I guess we should thank James and Bob for the guy's newest album." Thanks
to NaTe for keeping us informed.

Read this short review of Gravity from
VoxOnline:
"Our Lady
Peace, Gravity,
Columbia
Records - "One day/You'll have to let it go," sings Raine Maida on
"Innocent," one of many great tracks on Gravity. It seems as though a weight
has finally been lifted off from Maida's shoulders. Gravity brings a set
of songs that are so much more positive than anything OLP has done before and a
band that seems reborn and ready for a well-deserved breakthrough in the US.
Then entire record is loaded with one great track after another. "Somewhere Out
There," the first single, has hit radio and gives a taste of what Gravity offers
up, with OLP's typically great songwriting. But it's the uplifting feeling that
pervades most of the songs that really pushes the album along and charges each
of the tracks, especially the emotional "Not Enough" and the wide-open "Sorry".
This is, without a doubt, the best OLP record yet." Thanks to the Street Team
for the link.
Yet another review
from VoxOnline.
This time on "Forceable Entry": "Various Artists, WWF
Forceable Entry, Smackdown Records/Columbia
- Imagine if all those little entry themes and snippets that are used by the WWF
were given to a variety of rock's best, heaviest artists and left to their
interpretation. What you would end up with is this record. A veritable who's
who of the rock scene take their stab at it with amazing results. Breaking
Point's "One of a Kind," "Whatever" by Our Lady Peace and Disturbed's "Glass
Shatters" are incredible and must-have's for any collection. When you consider
that the record also includes tracks by Creed, Limp Bizkit, Marilyn Manson and
many other huge stars, this album will become required listening."
Check out the latest from the One Man Army Street Team.

emails have been bouncing back to us saying that the message is delayed.

Fellow fan Tom talked to Raine after the first
night in Dayton, and asked him about Soul Fox not being on the cover. He said
that the band thought they would have more time before the record came out, but
"SOT" hit the radio quickly and they simply ran out of time. He was also busy
helping his wife Chantel out with promoting her new stuff, as well as promoting
OLP's. He also said due to the lack of time the artwork in gravity is "medium."
Thanks to Tom for the information.

the tickets go on sale. If anyone hears anything more about this, please

Soundscan's Top 100

Unfortunately, Muchmusic did not feature anything
about the video shoot on MuchNews
yesterday like they said they would.
However, they did
show some footage on today's Muchnews broadcast at 3:30 pm EST. If you missed
it, check out the Weekend edition for possible repeats.
This is what was featured on today's
Muchnews:
On Set With OLP - Our Lady Peace has a new guitarist and a new video on the way.
They were shooting a video for their next single "Somewhere Out There," and
MuchNews caught up with them on set in Montreal. Raine spoke about the video,
their first with new guitarist Steve Mazur. "Introducing a new guitar player,
you don't want to do it in a concept-heavy video, so this is the best way to see
just bare bones - a rock band playing to their fans," he said. And the rock band
did play to their fans as they performed several songs to keep people on-set
entertained between takes. Thanks to Kris for sending this our way.

'Somewhere Out There' has moved up from 17 to 14
on the Radio and Records
National Airplay Chart. Thanks to Brendan for the news.
The following was posted on
Muchmusic's Much News page:
Meet OLP's New Guitarist,
Steve Mazur was living and working in Detroit, Michigan and being just your
typical Our Lady Peace fan: once he even crossed the border to buy an OLP album
in Canada because it was released earlier here than in the U.S. And now? This
OLP fan was chosen out of thousands of hopefuls to be their brand new guitarist.
We asked Steve about how it feels to make the transition from fan to band
member: "I'm very excited and psyched to be doing this. It's very cool, the guys
in the band are great, I love the music and I'm having a great time. It's a
little surreal sometimes, but everyone is real down-to-earth and real cool,"
said Mazur. Thanks to Kris for sending it to us.
May 1, 2002 (Afternoon)
Thanks to Daenu on the CC, we were able to catch

feature on the DVD. Thanks to Stephen for the heads up.
April 30, 2002
According to Jean-Marc, here is the video shoot
footage that was featured on
MusiquePlus' InfoPlus: "They
showed what happened there... Fans at the shooting, director of the video giving
instructions to the fans... the OLP guys signing autographs... There's Jeremy
saying that the Metropolis is one of their favorite clubs in Canada and that
they wanted a place that feels intimate but isn't too small. There's Raine
saying that the heart of the video is just them on the stage playing a hard
song, that it's a live thing. He says that they never did that, except for
Naveed, but that it's the first time that it's strictly a live thing, that
there's no footage outside of the club. Then there's Duncan saying that when
making the album, they wanted to create a representation of what they are live,
and that it's what they're showing with the video. He says it's like a new
chapter in their career. Raine says that they were so excited when they found
out they could get the guy who did the "Who Let the Dogs Out" video. Also they
showed OLP playing Starseed there. They said that they wanted to entertain the
fans, who have been there for hours."
April 29, 2002 (Evening)

News of what took place at the Video Shoot is
coming in from fans all over. Here is what a few of them had to say:
"There's a storyline... about some girl, somewhere out there, lost and
confused... standard rock video. From what I can tell, she's at an olp concert,
diving from speakers and such. -Raine does some crowd surfing (from what I saw
on the storyboard). -OLP played Starseed, Naveed as well as Do You Like It, Not
Enough... and a third new song (don't remember the title). I must say, this next
ablum is going to be very very good. Amazing, in fact. It's harder than what
we've heard recently from olp, but still has that intangible that makes it
amazing. -The band hates making videos, as we all know. Raine was particularly
disgruntled/in agony mumbling to the fans that he "feels like a phoney" and that
"this is all bullshit". -They did some interviews with Musique Plus and Much,
and there was also a "the making of" being shot on set." Thanks to Maya
for the scoop
"I was talking with Steve today and he said he started off in music school and
then after that he started to play with several other bands after that before
being added onto Our Lady Peace. Just to tell you, Steve rocks. He is a really
nice guy, signed all the autographs that was asked of him and said thank you for
every compliment that was given to him. Now, I just hope he can fill Mike's
shoes." Thanks to Mitch for the news.
April 27, 2002
Read a review
of "Somewhere Out there" from
Maxonline
which received an 8/10: Their fifth CD is called 'Gravity' and it hits stores in
June. The first song from it isn't hard the way hits like 'Naveed', 'Superman's
Dead' or 'One Man Army' were but it's nothing like 'Life' or 'Theif' are either.
It's still close enough to Alternative but there are influences and elements of
pop/rock in it too. There's no doubt this song will be another hit to add to
their collection and it's already getting a lot of airplay and great reviews
from music fans. It has crossover appeal but let's hope it doesn't hurt them.
Mike B. Thanks to Rob for the news.
Check out what
Jeremy had to say on the Clumsy Congress
Message Board: "Thanks to everyone who came out to the shoot! It was amazing! The video is going
to be awesome. We would like to say also
that again we are very excited to play, and we are better and happier than we
ever have been. We'll miss Jamie but it will in no way effect our live shows.
There is such a great chemistry happening with us that we feel closer to the
audience than ever. Jamie played some amazing guitar on Gravity, and Steve has
picked up on that fire added some more of his own. We also wish Jamie the best
of luck with his recordings. He is a great musician. I hope you all have a
chance to come and see for yourselves. I guarantee you'll feel what we're
feeling. This record gets from us to you instantly! No wordy book required.
Onwards and upwords! We stomp across lands bringing our music to you! STEVE
MAZUR RULES! Yer pal, Jer" Thanks again to Rob for the news.
April 26, 2002 (Afternoon)
We have
a message to

St. Catherine St in Montreal. The shoot begins at about 3pm (or possibly later).

"Somewhere Out There" moves up from #22 to #17 on the
Top 100 singles Airplay
Chart. Thanks to Rob for the info.
Fans are
coming back from yesterday's video shoot in Montreal with good news and bad news.
The good news is that it seems to be a "live" type of video: warm and sweaty,
olp on stage, fans yelling. The feel was "high energy, people going crazy, with
extras jumping around on the balcony with OLP playing beneath, and then more
extras moshing on the ground floor, all rocking out: a hard rock video". Steve
Mazur seemed cool and comfortable with performing with a good stage presence,
Seemed on good and familiar terms with the guys in such a way that he didn't
just look like some contest winner. Conversation revealed that no extensive
canadian tour is planned so far.
The bad news is that Jeremy told fans that although Jamie Edwards was never an
"official" member of OLP, and more of a "stunt musician", he has now left OLP
for personal reasons. This is another sad day, as we spoke to Jamie on
several occasions after shows, and like Mike, he always gave fans extra
attention with prolonged, honest and interesting conversation. And most
importantly, he was a great musician, and addition to OLP. We'll miss you
Jamie!
Thanks to
Maya, Mitch and Jo for the news.
April 25, 2002
Keep an
eye on Muchmusic, MTV, EdgeTV, and any other music station to catch Jeremy
playing drums in the video for the song "Hero," which is on the Spiderman
Soundtrack.

Another good way that us OLP fans can help out the rise of Our Lady Peace is to
sign up at RateTheMusic.com. Every
couple of weeks or so they send you a link to a survey that asks you to rate
different songs that are currently on the radio. The survey isn't just for fun
either, it is organized by a company that is in charge of what gets played on
the radio. OLP will probably be on their in the next month or so and if we all
give "Somewhere Out There" the highest rating it can get, it could have a very
strong influence. Thanks to Chris for the great idea.
April 17, 2002 (Afternoon)

According to OLP.com, Jamie Edwards is now an
official member of OLP. This is what was posted on their site.
Thanks to Luke for forwarding it to us.
The search is over.
Our Lady Peace today announced the name of the player they have chosen to take
over guitar duties. Here's the official press release from the unit:
"Our Lady Peace are pleased to announce the addition of Steve Mazur to the band
as the new guitarist. Mazur is originally from Detroit, MI and will complete the
Our Lady Peace line-up of Raine Maida (vocals), Jeremy Taggart (drums), Duncan
Coutts (bass) and Jamie Edwards (guitar/keyboards). "I am really excited and I
have always been a fan of the band and this opportunity is a dream-come-true,"
explains Steve.
Over the past two months, the members of Our Lady Peace met with fellow
musicians and friends and searched through thousands of video taped submissions
in order to find the ideal candidate. "We were overwhelmed with the response to
our search. We received tapes, videos, dvds and cds from as far away as
Australia and Japan," says Duncan. "It was inspiring to see how many incredible
musicians were out there," states Raine. Our Lady Peace reviewed every single
videotape submission and each candidate can expect to receive a personal letter
from the band.
'Gravity,' Our Lady Peace's fifth album will be released simultaneously in the
United States and Canada on June 18, 2002. The first single, "Somewhere Out
There," is already the Top 3 most added track in the U.S. and Canada. 'Gravity'
was produced by the legendary Bob Rock (Metallica) and mixed by Randy Staub
(POD/Nickelback). The album was recorded at Rock's Plantation Studios in
Hawaii."

Unfortunately OLP didn't win any Juno awards last
night. However, they don't need awards to show them or the fans how
great they are. We all know that they should have won! We also feel bad
that Oli Goldsmith lost out on the best video award for "In Repair."
Perhaps if you have a few minutes, you could drop him an
email and let him know how you feel
about his work.
April 14, 2002 (Evening)
If you don't have access to CTV, you might want
to tune into a live webcast of the Junos
here. Thanks to Rob for the link.

Be
sure to check out
Fmqb.com for mention of a CD sampler packaged with a magazine they call
Modern Crossroads (we think). It’s a special one as WXRK/New York’s Booker and
Raine Maida are at the helm hosting the disc this time out, offering listeners
an exclusive look into the band’s latest release. On the CD sampler the
duo discusses Maida’s experience recording the new album in Maui with Rock, the
explosion of the band’s new single, and introduce listeners to the wide variety
of new music that comprise the April 2002 fmqb Modern Rock CD Sampler.
It appears that you need to be a subscriber, and work at a radio station to
receive the CD Sampler...and according to the
subscription info
page, it is not cheap! So watch your local used cd shops for your rare
chance to find this one. Thanks again to Rob for the link.

There may have been some truth in
"Somewhere Out There" originally being included on the Spiderman Soundtrack. Our
great friend Rob has just finished the novel based on the movie, and the second
last page included the following
"And he knew that somewhere out there,
Spider-Man was likely speeding to help hostages. To help people." Also, Liz on the CC
mentioned that krockradio.com mentioned how it was going to be on the
Spiderman soundtrack, but the band decided to use it on the upcoming CD instead.
Thanks to Rob and Liz for the news.
April 8, 2002 (Late Morning)
New CC post from Jeremy in Hot Off the Wire:
Thanks folks! Ya'll are so swell. I think
you people are top! I hope ya have fun. I'll see you all very soon.
We are almost all done. All but the cryin. The Obese lady is primin' up her
gobbler! Keep in touch everyone. I'll keep an eye on "Anything OLP", and let you in on
some happenings.
Yer drummin pal, Jer
If you missed Duncan's radio appearance on Y108 this morning, here are some key
points of what he said:
- When they
originally went to Maui, they intended on working on a few songs with Bob Rock,
then exploring other producers. They were so impressed with him both
professionally and personally, not to mention the location was
relaxing and helped clear their minds, that they decided to stay and ended up
finishing an entire CD worth of music.
-
Their recording style was also very live-like. For example, one track on the
upcoming CD named "Bring Back The Sun" was recorded live off the floor, in the
first take!
-
The new guitarist is still not chosen, but they will know sooner than later.
They have to soon due to the upcoming tour.
April 8, 2002 (Early Morning)
Tune into Y108 in Hamilton, Ontario as
Duncan is coming up on the radio in a few minutes (it is now 8:15 am EST).
April 7, 2002
Just to let anyone know who may be wondering.
We have moved our site from one host to another, and are still waiting for half
the net to catch up. For some reason some of you may see
64.78.56.147 instead of
www.ourladypeace.cc in you browser's
address bar. Half the emails we receive show up online on the IMail client for
the new site, the other half to our PC's Outlook. It's really bizzare
actually..but like I said, I think that half the net needs to release the dns
info. So it depends on your provider, or what route the signal takes,
whether it shows up on the new or old. Either way, we've have an asp on the old
server that will bounce you to the new, so the news will be up to date. :-)
Our Lady Peace sits at #8 on this weeks
89x Hitlist. Also on
this website in the Speak Up
section is an area where you can vote for your favourite CD of all time.
Be sure to drop in and submit your fav OLP CD! Thanks to Nygfan4life for
the news.
April 6, 2002 (Evening)

April 6, 2002 (Morning)
