Check out this picture of Jeremy and Duncan on the red carpet at the MMVAs and this one of Jeremy and Eric from Sam Roberts' band at the after party.  Thanks to Duke for letting us know about these.

An email from an anonymous source has informed us that the CD will not be released until the new year.

According to Troy who works at a Record store in the US, the OLP CD is set to be released on October 12, 2004.  The release date in Canada may or may not be different than this.  Of course, this date could get pushed back but as of now, this is the official date as the store only receives official dates. Thanks to Troy for the heads up.

Here is the press release about the CDs available in beer cases. According to the article, four provinces will include a sampler CD in 24s. While, Ontario fans can find one of the four CDs (one of which is OLP) in specially marked cases of Labatt Blue starting June 21. Beer drinkers on the East Coast will have to wait until July 1 for a taste.  Thanks to Scutley for passing this along.

Back in April, we
mentioned a band called Proximity Grey from Columbus, Ohio, who list Our Lady Peace as one of their influences. We also posted how they were on Alternative Addiction as one of the Top Unsigned Bands in the
country.
Well. for the second month, Proximity Grey is number 1 and that is where they want to stay. People can stream part of their single "Anymore" and vote for the band to remain on the Top 10 list.  You can also listen to three other samples: "Fall,"  "Comfortable" and "Nothing From Nobody."  And, you can download the 4 full songs for $3.99. Thanks to Katie for keeping us posted.

The OLP CD has live versions of Do You Like It?, and In Repair (from the DVD we believe) and the previously unreleased version of Not Afraid! (As far as we know, this offer is only available in Canada) If you are not old enough to pick up a case of beer, you can head to the OLP Hub for all three songs.  Thanks a heap to Miro and Kruno for sharing with everyone.

June 9, 2004 (Afternoon)

An interesting piece of information that some of you may or may not know. An article on Chartattack talks about Brenda Stronach, a silent partner with Big Bold Sun Music, which is the brainchild of Mike Roth, who discovered Our Lady Peace. Thanks to Husain for the link.

Visit buymyalbum.com and listen to some song samples from an independent songwriter/producer, Mike Vercoe, who was inspired by OLP.  Thanks to Mike for sharing these with us.

Thanks to everyone for their hard work on the banner contest. There were a lot of great entries! Congratulations to Jeff S, Jess G and Amanda D who are the top three winners. We will be contacting you shortly.

June 8, 2004

WWE Raw has announced that Kane will challenge the World Heavy Champion, Chris Benoit for his title at the pay-per view event, Bad Blood on June 13th in Columbus, Ohio. This means that Benoit's entrance theme "Whatever" by OLP and Kane's entrance theme "Slow Chemical" by F11 will  be played.  Both bands are from Canada which is pretty cool too! ;-) Thanks to Tim for bringing this to our attention.

Most of you already know that
Raine and Chantal's baby boy's name is Rowan. What a fellow fan has found interesting about the child's name is that if you rearrange the letters R and N and then put in a space, it spells "No War."  The fact that both Raine and Chantal are big supporters of the whole 'No War' campaign makes you wonder if this was a premeditated decision on choosing that name.  Thanks to Anthony for passing this along to us.

June 7, 2004

OLP will be presenting at the 2004 Muchmusic Video Awards.  Thanks to Duke for the heads up.

June 6, 2004

Please be aware that someone is trying to make money off OLP fans by selling bootlegs at Our Lady Peace Live.  However, most if not all of the recordings offered there are also available for FREE on the hub.  Thanks to Josh and Matt for bringing this to our attention.

June 4, 2004

According to this story in The Times Herald, Elvin Jones did not only contribute to "Stealing Babies" but played on an early version of "Waited" as well. The article also includes quotes from Mike Turner and the late, Elvin Jones. Thanks to Troy for making us aware of it.

In an article about
Unity, the official album of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece which is set for an August 10 release, the CD Peace Songs is mentioned.  However, the writer does not speak kindly about Raine's tribute to John Lennon's "Imagine."  Read the whole story at Chartattack. Thanks to Husain for sending us the link.

June 3, 2004

The Rock 95.1 from Windsor, Ontario put together their list of the
Top 951 Songs of All Time.  Our Lady Peace is #130 with Clumsy, #209 with Superman's Dead, #614 with Automatic Flowers, #672 with Starseed and #835 with Naveed.  Thanks to Matt for the heads up.

An OLP Spiritual  Machines poster was spotted in a recent episode of Degrassi:  The Next Generation.  Thanks to Caitlin for making us aware of this.

Many have written confirming the Wal-Mart message board with Our Lady Peace  - June on it.  In fact,
HMV, in Exeter, England had a huge poster with the Gravity promotional shot and it said, "NEW Our Lady Peace album out June (tbc)" and had a quote from Jeremy from the "Glass Eye" interview where Jeremy talks about this new album being his best so far.  Despite all of these confirmations, it is now June,  nothing has officially been released and there have been conflicting stories about what the release date will be, so it is very, very unlikely that the CD will be released before later this year or even next year.  Let's hope it is sooner than later. Thanks to Nick, Chris, Lucy, Brandon, Robyn and Rob for taking the time to email us regarding this. Special thanks to Rob for the shot of the message board.

I
n one of the major newspapers in Australia, The Sunday Telegraph, there was an interview with Avril Lavigne in the May 30th edition. The article talks about her new album and it says,  "The project began shortly after Lavigne's tour ended, when she had lunch with another Canadian singer/songwriter, Chantal Kreviazuk. The two began writing, and pretty soon Kreviazuk's husband, Raine Maida, lead singer and song writer of Our Lady Peace, got involved." Later in the article it mentions she sought production help from Maida. And the last bit mentioning them is " I did the moodier songs with Raine and Chantal first, because those kind of songs didn't make it on the album last time."  This is the first time that Thomas noticed mention of OLP in the Sunday paper and he has been a fan since Naveed. Thanks to Thomas for the update.

On June 1,
VH1's Driven: Avril Lavigne, there was a 2-second clip of Raine commenting on her stardom. Thanks to Emily for the update.

OLP fan, Tim is in a band called F/stop and wants everyone to check out  their music.  Head to the music section of the site for song samples. Thanks to Tim for the link.

May 31, 2004

Edge 102 was live from Club Joe last night and Martin Streak, the announcer, said that Jeremy comes in every once and a while to hang out. Recently, when he was hanging out, he mentioned that the new OLP album should be ready towards the end of June, beginning of July.  Thanks to Matt for the heads up.

Read what Raine and other musicians have to say about the FCC and Indecency in this article on FMQB.  Thanks to Gail and Erynn for the link.

Some interesting questions and answers about Our Lady Peace are posted on Greenwheel's Ask  part of their site.  Here is an example of one:
Question: Has Our Lady Peace influenced you at all after touring with them last fall?....by the way, I don't think there could have been a better combo of any two bands to tour together asked by Ben on Tuesday, September 2, 2003 Answer: Yes I think they have. BTW - I agree.
answered by Brandon on Thursday, April 15 , 2004 5:59 PM. To read more head to Greenwheel's site, click on Ask and type OLP in the Search. Thanks to clemdawg for the info.

On Muchmusic's  Intimate and Interactive with Avril on Friday,
she mentioned that she lived with Raine and Chantal for seven months in their Malibu home writing her new album. She also said that she considers them family. She was wearing a white T-shirt that spelled the word V O T E vertically. It seems Avril continues her strong relationship with the couple and supports their causes. She also commented on how Raine and Chantal introduced her to Warchild. Thanks to Angie, Melissa and Chelsea for the info.

In this past Saturday's Toronto Star, there is an article on Avril and it mentions how Raine produced much of her CD and that she used OLP's rehearsal space.  Thanks to Madelaine for the update.

May 27, 2004

Raine wants you to vote!!  Head over to chartattack and read the article.  Thanks to Gail and Robyn for the link.

May 26, 2004

In the May/June 2004 issue of Canadian Musician (with Randy Bachman on the  cover)Steve Mazur is part of the panel of Guitar Players who answers questions and gives advice in an article called Guitar 2004. Thanks to Gail for emailing this to us.

May 19, 2004 (Later Morning)

We are sad to report that according to Canoe, Elvin Jones, a renowned jazz drummer and member of John Coltrane's Quartet, passed away this Tuesday at the age of 76. He was definitely a huge influence to Jeremy and he even made a guest appearance on "Stealing Babies" which is the last song on  OLP's "Happiness.." CD. Thanks to those of you who emailed and made us aware of this.

Here are some quotes gathered from different articles on Jeremy about his thoughts on Elvin Jones:

"He’s a true genius," says Taggart. "There aren’t that many people on this earth who’ve been on such a crest of music. He was part of one of the most important things that’s happened in the last 50 years of music. And he’s so humble about it." (Taken from Alternative Press article, "Pieces of Fate" by Phil Freeman).

"I don't get nervous much in my life. I wasn't when I met Robert Plant, or Jimmy Page, even when Ed and Alex Van Halen greeted me on the first day of our tour together, I didn't break a sweat. But when I met Elvin Jones [legendary 73-year-old jazz drummer], I felt like I was on a first date. I just wanted to make some impression, let him know I wasn't just some kid who dug his stuff ‹ that sometimes I pretended to be him, or play like him." (Taken from Chartattack interview, "Jeremy Taggart interviewing Eugene Levy."

"I'd been hearing this guy's playing from the cradle," Jeremy recalls. "My dad would play all these great records of his while I was growing up. I never thought I'd be able to call this guy my friend. Having him appear on our album was a dream come true for me." (Taken from Woodstock.com article).

"When you meet Elvin Jones, the baddest--motherf***er ever to play drums--hang out with him, trade up Richard Pryrer and Redd Foxx jokes until the room is silent from everyone rolling around laughing, you have to take a minute to thank the script writer for writing you into a couple scenes...because it felt like I was in some crazy movie, with God's drummer!" (Taken from April 2004 issue of Chart Magazine when Jeremy was featured on a page called Canadian Idols (various rock stars with their idols). There's a picture of him with Elvin Jones with the above quote).

Check out the screen capture of the OLP Jet generated in Flight Simulator by a  fellow fan.  Thanks to Dan for sending it our way.

May 12, 2004

It appears that Jamie Edwards (former stunt musician of OLP) has been sharing some of his many talents with a band called Doctor.  The band consists of Daniel Greves (former lead singer of The Watchmen) and Rob Higgins (Rocket Science, The Royals).  In addition to these guys, two unofficial members are Dan Cornelius (Rocket Science, The Royals) who played the drums on the record and will play sometimes live and Jamie Edwards (Blue Man Group, OLP) who played guitar on the record and sometimes live.  Watch for their first single, "What Makes You Think He's Lucky" to hit the Canadian airwaves this month and for their CD, " High is as High Gets" to hit the music shelves in July.  Thanks to Jason for the heads up.

On MTV's 25 Hottest Under 25 Countdown, Avril Lavigne was shown holding a baby when they were interviewing her and talking about Good Charlotte. Fellow fan, Michelle believes that this baby was
Rowan (Raine and Chantal's little boy). Thanks to Michelle for sharing this with us.

According to an OLP fan, a Gravity poster was hanging in Mary Kate/Ashley's bedroom in the movie "New York Minute" which contained a lot of Canadian content. Take a look at this picture (look on the right of the screen over her shoulder). Thanks to Rob for sending this our way.

A new snare has been added to Jeremy's section on the gear page.  Thanks to Jeff for emailing us with the info.

May 9, 2004 (Evening)

Last Sunday Jeremy was talked about during Muchmoremusic's "The Loop" news segment.  They talked about him
playing for the Juno Cup to raise awareness for CARAS. they showed some clips of him skating on the ice and of him speaking about playing hockey. During the first part he was talking about how they lost to the NHL vets 12-8. he said that he couldn't believe they let them (the musicians) score 8 goals. then he talked about how you need stamina for the game. Jeremy said that he would skate around straight for a couple of seconds and then get tired, and they showed a clip of him tripping over himself trying to block some player. then he said that these hockey vets can play hockey for a long time but if they tried to play drums, they would play for 3 seconds and get tired.
At the end of the segment, they showed him signing an autograph for a boy. Thanks to Gerri for the info.

Awhile ago, we mentioned a band called "Proximity Grey" from Columbus, Ohio, who list Our Lady Peace as one of their influences. Well, they are
now listed on Alternative Addiction as one of the Top Unsigned Bands in the
country. People can stream part of their single "Anymore" and vote for the
band to be added to the Top 10 list. Plus, people can download the full song
for 99 cents. Thanks to Priscilla for keeping us updated.

A recent episode of Driven on VH1 featured Raine speaking about his involvement with Avril's new CD.  Thanks to Liann and Katie for the info.

Turns out Chartattack is hinting that a lack of Our Lady Peace at this years Juno's may be one reason it wasn't such a success as last years.  The following was recently posted, "Less star power. Sure, we had Nickelback, Sarah and Avril performing, but last year Shania and Our Lady Peace were added to the mix."  Thanks to Jenny for the news.

Drop into our Wallpaper section for a new addition.  Thanks to Katie for sharing.

The iTunes-exclusive Moby song, "Love of Strings," is a remix "focused on the melodic and atmospheric elements" of the song "Signs of Love" from his album, 18. So now where ever he is, he brings OLP with him. Thanks to Denise, Sarah and Amanda for the news.

Further the news of March 25th regarding OLP's "Innocent" being mentioned on page 18 of a book by Sephera Giron called "Borrowed Flesh".  OLP fan and writer Husain Haider recently interviewed Sephera (read interview here), and while researching, contacted Sony and received a hint that confirms that the upcoming OLP CD release will be mid to late June.  Thanks to Husain for the scoop.

It turns out Raine produced 5 of Avril's tracks off her new cd.  The titles of these songs are "Who Knows, He Wasn't, Fall to Pieces, Slipped Away, How Does It Feel"  We would again like to congratulate Raine and Chantal on their new little Rowan.  Check out this picture of Chantal and Rowan taken at an Avril videoshoot.  Thanks to KT for sharing the info and photo.

Read another article from Rolling Stone about Raine's involvement on Avril's upcoming CD, "Under My Skin."  Thanks to Lisa and Johnny for sending in the link.

According to an article in the Winnipeg Free Press, Raine Maida will be in Winnipeg, MB on May 20 to attend a special luncheon to raise awareness about the city's destitute. His wife, Chantal Kreviazuk and son, Rowan Michael K. Maida will also be in attendance. This is another example of how caring and involved Raine is. Thanks to Aynisha for making us aware of this.

Check out a site from the UK called spiritualmachines.net.  Currently, only the forum is up but Chris is working on the rest of the site and hopes to have it all on the net soon. Thanks to Chris for sharing his site with us.

In the April Issue of  Chart magazine, Jeremy is featured on a page called Canadian Idols (various rock stars with their idols). There's a picture of him with Elvin Jones with the following quote underneath: "When you meet Elvin Jones, the baddest--motherf***er ever to play drums--hang out with him, trade up Richard Pyror and Redd Foxx jokes until the room is silent from everyone rolling around laughing, you have to take a minute to thank the script writer for writing you into a couple scenes...because it felt like I was in some crazy movie, with God's drummer!" ----Jeremy Taggart, Our Lady Peace. Thanks to Jen and Robyn for sending this our way.

In October of 2002, a band called Fingertight toured with OLP.  Now they have released a CD and OLP is thanked in the credits.  Thanks to Danielle for the heads up.
