Raine Maida will be busking around Toronto to raise money for War Child on Thursday October 25.  Check out his myspace page for more details.

If you are in the area after Raine's busking, you should consider stopping by the Rivoli to hear Public, an indie band that we have been fans of for a while now.  You won't be disappointed!

Here is a map to help you locate both Raine and Public.

Raine's first single, "Yellow Brick Road," from his solo CD, "Hunter's Lullaby," is now getting some airplay on Edge 102 and can also be heard on Raine's Myspace page.  Raine's first solo CD will be released on November 13. You can also catch Raine playing at the CASBY awards on October 24.  Thanks to the many fans that emailed us about this.

Check out this cool band called Thousand Foot Krutch.  You may find that that they have a similar sound to OLP.  Enjoy!  Thanks to Scutley for sending this our way.

OLP update courtesy of Steve via his Myspace:

"Hey there everyone. Steve here.  Long time no talk. Hope everyone is well. What to say what to say what to say what to say.

OLP just finished a week of writing/recording up at casa de Maida here in LA a week or so ago. Very cool. Good stuff. Good times. Recorded the bed tracks for 3 new songs, very cool very cool very cool. One song with a Neil Young-y type of guitar riff. Great chorus. Another one very fast. Jeremy playing fills that sound like they could be in a fast Russian folk dance song with those dudes doing those crazy leg kicks. Then into a fast staccato verse.

Then into a total broken down slow bridge with just Raine strumming acoustic and singing. It think that we may start the song like that also. Not sure how to describe the third song. Verse with circular guitar lick and trashy, almost Beck-like beat, pre-chorus broken down to just Raine and I, big chorus with big, soaring chords. The bridge takes you to another place. Want to go play it right now.

So anyway, we are definitely not laying dormant. True that we all have side projects happening but that is good.....just expands each of our creative horizons so that we have more to bring to the band and to...........YOU!

Hoping this finds everyone well,
Steve"
Thanks to Paul G. for making us aware of this.

Sadly, Chris Benoit (Canadian WWE wrestler who OLP wrote theme song, "Whatever" for) has been found dead in his Georgia home along with wife and child. At this time, speculation is that the incident was a murder- suicide. Our thoughts are with his family as they cope with this tragedy.

The following taken from a  Blog on OLP's MySpace:

"Hey Friends,

Just thought you might like to know that we have been doing some writing and recording. It looks like we will be heading into Raine's studio in July. Keep your ears to the ground and I will try to get some early versions posted in the near future.

Best,

Duncan"

Thanks to Mike P. for passing this along.

In an "Ask OLP" posting, the guys were asked what their next step was after "A Decade" and Raine's solo project.  The band responded that they have already started working on their next CD.  Thanks to fellow fan, Duncan for keeping us informed.
