- Right
Behind You (Mafia) |
|
You
You You You You You You You You You You
You
haven't seen the world outside for days
You
sleep, you hope, you wait
Imagination
disappears
And
all the dreams you have, you save
Confrontation
like a mirror
They
try to take your mind away
Hey
hey I don't know, but I believe
In
yesterday, and what it means
To
bleed and know that you're okay
Are
you waiting?
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
You
You You You You You You You You You You
Bombarded
by the atmosphere
You
breathe, you choke, you breathe again
Conversation
disappears
You
realize they're not your friends
The
panic of the future rears
You
dig, you jerk
You
find another way
Hey
hey I don't know, but I believe
In
yesterday, and what it means
To
bleed and know that you're okay
Are
you waiting?
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
You
opened up my veins
Now
I don't feel the same
No
no no
You
opened up my brain
But
I won't be replaced
No
no no
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you
No
matter what you say
No
matter what you do
No
matter what I'm always
Right
there behind you

- Ray Kurzweil 2029 |
|
The
year is 2029
The
machines will convince us that they are conscious
That
they have their own agenda worthy of our respect
They’ll
embody human qualities
They’ll
claim to be human
And
we’ll believe them
|

04
- In
Repair |
|
Well
it's good to know that you'll be okay
I've been waiting for this
And I'll be there to sit while you pray
No
one's blaming me
I'm not supposed to wait
When
they open up your heart
Oh
I… I have been good, I understood
Like a machine, I'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, the life that we share
I know that I'll be lost in
But
we're always in repair
Lock
the door, lock the door
Lock
the door, lock the door
Lock
the door, lock the door
And it's good to know that you'll drive away
From this car crash nightmare
And I'll be there to help you again
And there's no danger
We're just killing time again
When
they order up new parts
Oh
I… I have been good, I understood
Like a machine, I'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, the life that we share
I know that I'll be lost in
But
we're always in repair
Take
this time to figure it out
Know
the wire, the fuse, the things that you doubt
The
wheels, the air, the metal, the mouth
Something,
something, something
Oh
I… I have been good, I understood
Like a machine, I'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, the life that we share
I know that I'll be lost in
Oh
I… I have been good, I understood
Like a machine, I'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, the life that we share
I know that I'll be lost in
But
we're always in repair
Lock
the door, lock the door
Lock
the door, lock the door
Lock
the door, lock the door

- Life |
|
How
many times have you been pushed around?
Is anybody there?
Does anybody care?
And how many times have your friends let you down?
Is anybody there?
Did anybody stare?
And how many times have your friends let you down?
Just open up your heart
Just open up your mind
And how many times has your faith slipped away?
Well, is anybody safe?
Does anybody pray?
Oh, life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we're alive
Oh, life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we'll survive
Do
do do do do do do do do do do
Do
do do do do do do do do do do
And how many days have you just slept away?
Is everybody high?
Is everyone afraid?
And how many times have you wished you were strong?
Have they ever seen your heart?
Have they ever seen your pain?
Oh,
life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we're alive
Oh, life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we'll survive
She gets high
She gets lost
She gets drowned by the cost
Twice a day, every week, and all her life
She
gets high
She gets lost
She gets drowned by the cost
Twice a day, every week, and all her life
Life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we're alive
Oh, life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we'll survive
Oh,
life is waiting for you
It’s all messed up, but we're alive
Oh, life is waiting for you, oh
It’s all messed up, but we're alive
It’s
all messed up, but we’ll survive
It’s
all messed up, but we're alive
It’s
all messed up, but we’ll, oh we’ll, survive

- Middle
Of Yesterday |
|
You
feel the love
You feel the past
It's all the things you thought you had
Huuuh,
Huuuh
Oh,
well I woke up in hell today
I woke up depressed and drained
And that's ok cause
I promise not to hurt you again
Apparently I'm to blame
But apparently I've been framed
By a memory that won't help me
When it's happening
Out
of the mind
Out of the soul
Out of the light
Out of control
Standing
in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it’ll be ok, hey
Huuuh,
Huuuh
Oh,
I promised you I would change
I'm an asshole, and I'm ashamed
And I'm upset 'cause I betrayed
Everything that you gave
Will you ever let me explain?
Can I beg you to let me stay
Don’t quit me 'cause
I'll never let this happen
Out
of the light
Out of
the soul
Out of the mind
Out of control
Standing
in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it’ll be ok
You
feel the love
And you feel the past
It's all the things you thought you had
You
feel the love
You feel the past
It's all the things you thought you had
All
the things you thought you had
Standing
in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it’ll be ok
Standing
in the middle of yesterday
When it all went wrong
And we made mistakes
I'm sorry for the things I forgot to say
But it won't be long
And it’ll be ok, yeah
Oh
well I’ll make it up to you
I’ll make it up to you
I’ll
make it up to you
uh huh
Oh
well I’ll make it up to you
I’ll make it up to you
I’ll
make it up to you uh huh

- Are
You Sad? |
|
Your
life has been so hard
It's dried up angels, can't keep guard
And I'm trying to reach your hand
But I'm on fire
I never meant to fade... away, away
Oh just stop pretending when they say your nothing
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
I'm drowning inside your head
Help me to answer
Help understand
Why it's been so long since we talked like friends
Oh please forgive me,
I'm just a man
Whose made mistakes
Wait
for me
Oh
just stop pretending when they say your nothing
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
Are
you sad?
Are you holding yourself?
Are you locked in your room?
You shouldn't be
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh
oh you shouldn’t be
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh
oh you shouldn’t be
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are
you sad?
Are
you holding yourself?
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
You
shouldn’t be
Oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Are
you sad?
Are
you holding yourself?

- Made
To Heal |
|
I
gave up on you
And your exercise
And the world that I knew
Then, I fell back on you
Cause I need more time
And I need an excuse
I'm a thief, a liar, an angel in the fire
I'm a king, a drug, the push that comes to shove
I'm a freak, a star, I'm everything you are
I'm your Jesus, I'm your pride
Made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I
depend on you
For
the wings of life
And the air that you move
And I defended you
For this one last time
For the nerves you abuse
I'm
a thief, a liar, an angel in the fire
I'm a king, a drug, the push that comes to shove
I'm a freak, a star, I'm everything you are
I'm your Jesus, I'm your pride
Made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
You
open up my weight
I’m
alone and then
You’re
old enough to say
I'm
a thief, a liar, an angel in the fire
I'm a king, a drug, the push that comes to shove
I'm a freak, a star, I'm everything you are
I'm your Jesus, Jesus
Made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I'm
made
to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal
I’m
made to heal

- Everyone's
A Junkie |
|
I'm
not waiting for the answers
On a Sunday afternoon
I'm just too drunk to remember
Why I always slip through
The drugs that fake ambition (get the feeling now)
Have been helping me to hide (get the feeling now)
But it's the endless television (get the feeling
now)
That has kept me inside
Where
does it stop?
Where does it end?
Where do we go?
Why am I always complaining?
I can be good
I can be bad
I can be loved
But everything's gone black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
It's black, you're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
Big green monkey, everyone's a junkie
I'm not asking for forgiveness (get the feeling now)
For the things that I don't know (get the feeling
now)
But I'm really not that different (get the feeling
now)
You just made me think so
Where does it stop?
Where does it end?
Where do we go?
Why am I always complaining?
I can be good
I can be bad
I can be loved
But everything's gone black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
It’s black, you're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
And big green monkey, everyone's a junkie
Big green monkey, everyone's a junkie oh oh oh oh
Big green monkey, everyone's a junkie oh oh oh oh
(you fake, you squeal) oh oh oh oh
Big green monkey, everyone's a junkie
(you grow, you quake) oh oh oh oh
Big
green monkey, everyone's a junkie
You’re the big green monkey, everyone's a junkie!
Black
You're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
It's black, you're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
And I'll remember this someday
It's black, you're looking for that sun
You're
looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
It's black, you're looking for that sun
You're looking for that light
Lonely, you're not the only one to feel this way
And big green monkey, everyone's a junkie

Kurzweil On Death |
|
Take
death for example
A
great deal of our effort goes into avoiding it
We
make extraordinary efforts to delay it
And
often consider its intrusion a tragic event
Yet
we’d find it hard to live without it
Death
gives meaning to our lives
It
gives importance and value to time
Time
would become meaningless if there were too much of
it
If
death were indefinately put off
The
human psyche would end up
Well
like the gambler of the Twilight Zone episode

- All
My Friends |
|
All
my friends
Alone on a hill
They're just looking down
With violent minds out on loan
They're just not equipped
Insistence
Hope for the best
We’re not making sense in silence
Wait for the day when they're better then
In this silence, I'm not buying
You’re not leaking
You’re
not
Guess
we’d better hold on
Again
this time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for some sense this time
We won't understand again
I'm not waiting for, for, for, for
Still they sit
Alone on a hill
Their mechanical thoughts have left
Out on their own
They're not buying this
In this silence, I'm not buying
You’re not leaking
You’re
not
Guess
we’d better hold on
Again
this time
We
won't understand again
I'm not waiting for the man
This
time, we won't understand again
I'm not waiting for
The
sense this time
We
won't understand again
But
I’m
not waiting for
The
sense this time
We
won't understand again
Oh,
I’m not waiting for
No
no no no
Won't
understand again
But,
I’m not waiting for
No
no no no
Won't
understand again
But,
I’m not waiting for

- If
You Believe |
|
So,
you made up your mind
You're tired of trying
Time to be scared
And oh you wanted to fly
You can't close your eyes
Time to beware
But if you believe in the world I'm calling
And
if you belong in the world I saw
And if you believe in the world I'm calling
You'd be strong
So you wasted your time
You willed it goodbye
Time to be scared
And oh you thought you could buy
Your last piece of mind
Time to beware
But if you believe in the world I'm calling
If you belong in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You'll
feel strong
If you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you belong in the world I saw
If you believe in the world I'm calling
You’d be strong
And
if you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you belong in the world I know
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
You’d
be strong
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you belong in the world I know
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
World
I’m calling oh oh
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you belong in the world I know
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
You’d
be strong
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you belong in the world I saw
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
You’d
be strong
If
you believe in the world I'm calling
If
you believe

- The
Wonderful Future |
|
She
builds her own satellite
From an old rusted chair
She leaves this old world behind
And the things that she cares
Maybe
she's gone
But it won't be for long
What do I know?
Maybe she's found
What we all dream about
What do I know? Oh
She's beautiful
And wild
Well I can't compare
And
wild
But it's just not there, fair
She
builds a strong alibi
From the future that's here
She needs to know I'm alive
But I'm flesh and I tear
Maybe
she's wrong
But I wouldn’t mind my own
What do I know?
I’m best to let go
With a touch of her soul
What do I know?
Oh
She's beautiful
And wild
And
I can't compare
And wild
And
it’s
just not fair
And
wild
And
I can’t compare
And
wild
Oh
it’s
just not fair
And
wild, oh no,
And
wild,
oh it's wild
And
it’s
just not
the
end

Kurzweil and Molly (The Computer) |
|
Ray:
Anyway, you do look amazing
Molly:
You say that every time we meet
Ray:
I mean you look 20 again, only more beautiful than
at the start of the book
Molly:
I know that's how you'd want me
Ray:
Ok, you were an attractive young woman when I first
met you and you still project yourself as a
beautiful young woman at least when I'm with you
Molly:
Thanks
Ray:
Are you saying that you're a machine now?
Molly:
A machine? That's really not for me to say it's like
asking me if I'm brilliant or inspiring
Ray:
I guess the word machine in 2099 doesn't have quite
the same connotations that it has here in 1999
Molly:
It's hard for me to recall now
Ray:
Oh well
Molly:
I'm really just dabbling but creating music is a
great way for me to stay close with Jeremy and Emily
Ray:
Creating music sounds like a good thing to do with
your kids even if they are almost 90 years
old. So could I hear it?
Molly:
Uh I'm afraid you wouldn't understand it
Ray:
So it requires enhancement to understand?
Molly:
Yes most of it does. For starters, the
symphonies and frequencies that a mosh can't hear
and it has much too faster tempo and it uses musical
structures that a mosh could never follow
Ray:
Can't you create art for non-augmented humans?
I mean there's still a lot of depth possible.
Consider Beethoven, he wrote almost two centuries
ago and we still find his music exhilarating
Molly:
Yes there is a genre of music. All the arts
actually, where we create music and art that a mosh
is capable of understanding
Ray:
And then you play mosh music for moshes?
Molly:
hmm now that's an interesting idea. I suppose
we could try that, although moshes are not that easy
to find anymore. It's really not necessary
though, we can certainly understand what a mosh is
capable of understanding. The point though is to use
the mosh limitations as an added constraint.
Ray:
Sort of like composing new music for all
instruments?
Molly:
Yeah new music for old minds
Ray:
Maybe we should kiss goodbye
Molly:
Just a kiss?
Ray:
We'll leave it at that for this book. I'll
reconsider the ending for the movie
Molly:
Here's my kiss. Now remember I'm ready to do
anything or be anything you want or need
Ray:
I'll keep that in mind
Molly:
That's where you'll find me
Ray:
Too bad I have to wait a century to meet you
Molly:
Or to be me
Ray:
Yes that too. Actually Molly, there are a few
other questions that have occurred to me. What
were those limitations that you referred to?
What did you say you were anxious about? What
are you afraid of? Do you feel pain?
What about babies and children? Molly?
